About Associated Dance Teachers of New Jersey
Since 1936, the Associated Dance Teachers of New Jersey (ADT-NJ) has been a cornerstone of the New Jersey dance community, dedicated to supporting dance educators and their students through professional development, scholarships, and enriching workshops. As a non-profit professional organization, we offer a welcoming environment for dance teachers who are passionate about passing on their love of dance, continually learning, and supporting one another in the unique journey of dance education.

Scholarships to Empower Future Dancers
ADT-NJ is proud to offer several scholarship opportunities to support deserving students of our member teachers:
-
The Senior Dance Scholarship: Honoring Frances L. Chalif and her brother Amos Chalif, this scholarship is awarded annually to three high school students based on their performance in an audition.
-
The Junior/Teen Essay Scholarship: Awarded each year to ten students between the ages of 7 and 8th grade, this scholarship encourages young dancers to express their passion and commitment through writing.
-
Workshop Scholarships: Awarded to students at our workshops for their adherence to dress code, positive attitude, active participation, dance etiquette, enthusiasm, and effort during the classes.
-
ADT-NJ Member Scholarships: These scholarships, named in honor of past member Roseanna E. Smith, are awarded annually to members who actively participate in our events.

Dance Workshops with Renowned Master Teachers
Our Fall and Winter Dance Workshops bring top-tier master classes to New Jersey, allowing our members and their students to learn from some of the industry's most respected instructors. ADT-NJ members can attend these workshops for free, while students of member teachers enjoy significant discounts. Past master teachers have included icons such as Debbie Dee, Frank Hatchett, Steve Sirico, Angela D'Valda Sirico, Sarah Jo Fazio, Debra Mitchell, Patricia Dickinson, Jo Rowan, Sheila Barker, Chio, Jeff Shade, Elizabeth Parkinson, Lainie Munroe, Jamie Salmon, Justin Boccitto, Jim Cooney, Q, Michelle Barber, and many others.

Professional Development and Networking: "Teacher Talks"
Our annual networking event, "Teacher Talks," provides member teachers with a unique opportunity to come together, share ideas, and discuss various topics that advance dance education and studio management. With guest speakers, Q&A sessions, and interactive discussions, "Teacher Talks" helps our members continually grow as educators and leaders in the dance community.

Be Part of a Supportive Dance Community
At ADT-NJ, we pride ourselves on fostering a sense of camaraderie and mutual support among our members. Many lifelong friendships have started within our organization. As members of UNITY - Unity of America's Dance Organizations - our members are also eligible to apply for professional development scholarships and grants.

A Legacy of Dedication to Dance
ADT-NJ was honored to be among the inaugural recipients of the "Dedication to Dance" award from the United Dance Merchants of America (UDMA) in October 2009. This award recognizes organizations and individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to the dance industry and fulfilled the needs of dance studios and educators in extraordinary ways.
